Jim Ahrens has worked as an actor, singer, and coach in the Twin Cities for more years than he cares to remember. The Kalevala marks his first appearance with nimbus. He was last seen in this year’s Picnic Operetta, Donald Giovanni in Cornlandia (Mozart with an electoral twist). Favorite roles include Polonius in Hamlet and Snelgrave in One Flea Spare (both with Theatre Coup d’Etat), Appopolus in Wonderful Town (Skylark Opera), Trotter in Journey’s End (Jungle Theatre), and Gleaton in Susannah (Theatre Latte Da). As a singer, he has appeared as a soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra (Bernstein’s Mass, La Boheme) the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra, and many other organizations. He has also appeared in many Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas with the Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company. Jim is the tenor soloist for Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church. He can next be seen in Theatre Coup d’Etat’s production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, playing this December.
