Tisch Jones

Tisch Jones has been directing professional and educational theatre for many years. Her theatre work includes: Woza Albert, Unadillo Theatre, Vermont: The Escape; or, A Leap to Freedom, Stoney Creek Puppet House, Connecticut; The Boy King, Onstage Atlanta, Georgia; Owners and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Iowa Summer Repertory Theatre, Iowa.. Ms. Jones has also directed many readings and productions by playwright J.e. Franklin: Christchild, New Federal Theatre, New York; Miss Invictus, Lincoln Center, New York; and Gray Panthers, The Apollo, New York. Deeply committed to historical work, Ms. Jones has adapted and staged Lorraine Hansberry’s The Drinking Gourd and Medea by Euripedes at University of Northern Iowa. In addition to her directorial work, Ms. Jones has served as an arts administrator. She was one of the founders of the Twin Cities Black Theatre Alliance in Minneapolis (1977), Director of Special Arts Programs for the Connecticut State Board of Education (1980-82), and Assistant to the Dean/Artistic Director, Lloyd Richards at Yale Repertory Theatre (1986-89). In fact, Ms Jones was involved in the Broadway transfer of Fences and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone and Piano Lesson. Anton Jones-playwright, director, sound designer, and son of Tisch Jones. Currently, he works at Pillsbury, Children Theatre company, and throughout the school system of the Twin Cities, utilizing theatre to improve the educational life of America's children.
