nimbus presents a new multimedia experience exploring the American Dream.

February 20, 2007

The American Dream: for more than two hundred years this sacred cliché has attracted the huddled masses, created unprecedented personal wealth and kept treatment centers open for business. American Noise: The Savage Re-Birth of the American Dream is an irreverent interactive spectacle that explores how each generation tries to live the dream, live up to the dream or, at the very least, keep the dream on life support while the lawyers battle it out. An original work by nimbus co-Artistic Director Cockroach, the play mashes up live action theatre with animated scenes from six of the Twin Cities’ premier animators. The play’s characters confront an America united only by its divisions and immersed in a deafening cultural noise that distracts its citizens with the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of the perfect pair of jeans. American Noise: The Savage Re-Birth of the American Dream will be presented March 16th – April 1st at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Avenue South, in Minneapolis. In that time, we have entertained and baffled thousands of Twin Citians with an engaging mix of under-appreciated works by established playwrights, new plays by emerging playwrights and innovative company-created productions. We’re dedicated to creating theatre that crosses boundaries, promotes imagination, and creates new conversations.
