nimbus Presents: A Count up to Christmas

nimbus premieres its latest original work, their 51st production, at the Crane Theater in Northeast Minneapolis.

Written by Josh Cragun and directed by Liz Neerland.

Opening December 3rd and performing through December 18th, 2022.

The folks at nimbus have finally done it: A holiday show about the holidays, skewering a genre we all love and love to hate.

“We’ve joked about doing a satirical Christmas show for years,” director Liz Neerland said. “Then we realized this was the perfect time to finally make good on the threat. We wanted to do a show that was downright fun. It isn’t mindless, but a silly take on the cultural phenomenon that is the Television Christmas Movie.”

When an Overworked City Person finds herself dumped and unemployed right before Christmas, she heads to a Quaint Small Town in the Heartland to regroup. But things in the Heartland aren’t all jolly and bright as the beloved town Christmas fair is in danger.

“I’ve been fascinated by this genre for a long time,” said co-Artistic Director and playwright Cragun. “As someone with one foot in the city and one foot in the country, I wanted to show a different version, one focuses on what we have in common. That’s what the holidays are all about, to me. Also, we wanted to have some fun with a genre that was already a little silly.”
